Chapter 50

  • When I woke up in the morning, there was a note in the kitchen with my brother's messy handwriting saying that he had borrowed my truck and that the motorcycle was in the parking lot in case I wanted to use it. I grimaced when I saw the motorcycle keys on the counter, not that I didn't know how to ride it because I really did, he had taken care of that when we lived in New York so I wouldn't have to take the subway to high school and then to college. So resigned, I took the keys, the briefcase, and the helmet as I went out and down to the parking lot, seeing the black motorcycle in front of me, his new acquisition which is why it was also strange that he left it for me; I checked the time realizing I wouldn't make it on time if I took an Uber so with a sigh, I put on the gray helmet and got on the bike.
  • As soon as I started it and felt it vibrate, a smile escaped me, I stepped on the accelerator and left the parking lot, weaving between cars and dodging some others on the way to work, still annoyed by the fact that he took my truck without permission because the last time I let him use it I had to buy a new one because it ended up being a total loss as he decided to race in the early hours.
  • When I entered the underground parking lot of the building, I parked it in my spot, turned off the engine, took off the helmet, and put the keys in the pocket of my jacket, walking towards the elevator reminding myself that I had to stop by Mike's later in case he needed any help in the department but first, I had to find out what it was that Christian wanted to talk to me about.
