Chapter 14

  • We arrived at the outskirts of a place called The Majestic Downtown, which had once been a bank but eventually turned into an event hall in downtown Los Angeles. She was holding onto my arm, so when we entered, I instantly noticed the high ceilings and spacious area. Three crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, shining brightly. There were also several tables set up with white tablecloths and luxurious sets of dishes, as well as a large dance floor. Bornout led me to a table near the dance floor where I immediately noticed our names written.
  • "It's an amazing place," I commented as soon as I sat down.
  • I looked to my side and saw Christian greeting those who were sitting at our table and other people, almost greeting all the guests and introducing me without mentioning that I was his secretary. This made several women who approached him look at me jealously, but he managed to sit next to me. I sensed a certain discomfort in him, but I didn't want to say anything. When he finally sat down and everyone was in their places, dinner began. The food was so delicious that I knew I couldn't afford to make it at home, even with a worse result.
