Chapter 39

• I start running up the stairs of the building with burning lungs and sore legs, but as soon as I open the wooden door with my shoulder, I notice Christian, who had blood on his eyebrow and at some point on his shoulder where that red liquid was flowing very fast. I approach him, pressing the wound with a certain desperation. In one of the armchairs in his office was Alexander, staring at me with his eyes fixed on my face, his lip split but still smiling. I look at Chris for a few seconds and then at his wound, without further ado, I stand up and with a courage I didn't know I had, I approach the boy I once loved and without thinking, I hit him on the cheek, feeling the pain run through my whole hand.
• "I told you to leave me alone!" I shout, hitting him again and again.
