Chapter 57

• Scarlett was standing by the kitchen counter with a beer in her hand when Alex chimed into the house. Immediately his eyes met hers, there was an apologetic look on his face.
• He looked at her finger but he did not seem surprised that she had taken off his ring. He could not say that she could not do so, especially after what she saw on his computer. She had hung up abruptly when she saw the wedding photos, and he knew that she was pissed.
• "Dinner is served," she said as she pointed to a covered plate of food on the counter before she started to head upstairs. He followed after her immediately, but she would not look back.
