• Scarlett had been hesitant about a contract marriage and even more hesitant when Lucas drew up the contract that she would sign in court.
• She had read through the terms. He was very disciplined and he was insistent on keeping things professional between them. The reason they were getting married was judiciously laid out in the contract. He wanted her to be a mother to his children but not a wife to him.
• She had refused at first. That was not how she had planned her life to go. She would not spend her entire life with someone that was not a husband to her, but the kids were persuasive, and she informed Lucas that she was going to accept his terms.
