Chapter 21

• A few days had passed and Scarlett had barely seen Lucas. After their date, he had gone on a business trip and he had not told her how long he would be gone for.
• Her mind drifted to the events of the date night, the day Lucas finally touched her. They had driven home and the kids were already asleep. They were barely able to keep their hands off each other and they had forgotten about the divided bed rule that they had created for themselves. They had sex almost the whole night, and Lucas had been a gentleman. It was as though he was insistent on exploring her body and getting to discover what she hid underneath. She was beautiful and he knew it. She was the woman he wanted, one he longed for.
• It had been three days and she dialed his number again for the umpteenth time. He had woken up very early that morning to her surprise and noiselessly packed a bag for the trip. He had walked up to her side of the bed and planted a kiss on her forehead.
