• Scarlett turned to leave before she heard Alex's study door creak open. She turned around immediately and he stood there, shirtless and leaning against the door frame with her note in his hand.
• "This is a good start," he said calmly as he waved the paper in the air. She smiled. "I'm so proud of you. You are making so much progress in this journey," he added.
• Scarlett could not look past the kindness in his voice and the one his eyes held when he smiled at her. Everything he said was with so much intentionality that had allowed her to let go of the inadequacy that she had carried since her days at the hospital.
