• “They did not die?”
• If his mother and brother did not die, what happened to them? Dante stared at his father who had since abandoned the bed and paced the room in caged anxiety. What had he done? Is it even possible, that his mother and brother were still alive? If they did not die why were those caskets buried? It was true that when he became older, Amber had explained that because their car plunged into the ocean, their mother and brother, none of their bodies was recovered so it had been a closed casket, but, if his father knew they were alive, why pretend as if they died? Or was it later that he found out? If so, why didn’t he bring them back?
