Chapter 37
- “This town is dead.”
- Dante thought as he sat in his car in front of the diner and contemplated. He’d seen most of the town, it wasn’t dying, it was dead already. The abandoned water reservoir was totally useless to the government. Why would they abandon such project? No matter what the rumour was, they should have finished the project. Decades ago when the government was building the abandoned water reservoir in Waterside, two foreign engineers had disappeared and despite all the effort made by the state government and the foreign authorities to find the engineers they were never found.
- Different rumors of what happened to the engineers emerged, each ending with witches and wizards. With time, the stories became too exaggerated that the project was abandoned. People began to fear the people of Waterside and started avoiding it. Soon Waterside became that town that no one wanted to be associated with. Even people from her started claiming neighboring towns as their origin. Dante didn’t believe in witches and dark magic but in West Africa, a lot of people believed in them and some still do. No wonder Waterside is turning into a ghost town.
