Chapter 24

• “I want to disappear.”
• Ugo thought as she looked from Kenny’s accusing face to her fathers. Earl, her six years old son tugged at her cloth so she looked away from the angry faces to focus on him. This morning Sarah has suggested Earl join them for breakfast, she didn’t like the idea but there was no reasonable excuse for her to refuse. Earl has always had his meal with the family but because Dante would be there, she didn’t feel comfortable having her son in the same room with Dante.
• To Waterside people, meal time was a good time for family bonding so most family have their meals together. She’d had her personal reasons for not wanting her son to be present but none of that she could voice out to Sarah so she had agreed, and now she wished she hadn’t. Earl was agitated, he hated seeing adults shouting at each other, he hated any form of friction. Ignoring others, Ugo concentrated on convincing the little boy that everything was alright.
