• Ugo smiled with pride as she sat by the river and stared into the river. The ordeal was over. Dante had stood before the town and defended himself. When she stood before him, she thought it was over, that he would expose her and the lies she told. She had been too scared to look at him at first but when she did, the look on his face was confusing to her so she had glared at him instead, pretending to still be angry with him. She had reasoned that if she was going down, she would go down with pride. She was a mother after all and had depended on herself since she was eighteen so she couldn’t afford to be pathetic before her enemy.
• However, he hadn’t exposed her. He had explained that the man he called uncle wanted a gas plant but he was no part of the plan. He had stared at her and insisted that the plan he discussed with her was what he wanted. The fearsome four had asked if he did mention resort and Holiday Homes to her as he claimed. Ugo confirmed it, she couldn’t lie against him, she didn’t want to. After that, he had asked who he needed to approach for buying the lands he needed to start building the shopping malls. When he asked that question, there was complete silence as they all glared at him, he didn’t back down though. Ugo had been apprehensive, what if her lies had made it impossible for the people to trust him. When she was about to interfere and plead his case, Dave had walked up to Dante and offered him a handshake.
