• “What are you doing here?”
• Ugo asked Dave trying not to show how irritated she was. Lately Dave has been bugging her to go out on a date with him and he was beginning to refuse to take no for answer and that irritated her. Dave was handsome and a good man. Though he didn’t have the title sheriff, he acted as one. The town people looked up to him to direct them when it comes to legal and security issues. He was in the police force in one of the cities before but suddenly decided to move back to Waterside.
• She didn’t remember which city but she knew he was in the crime investigation department. Nobody knew why he asked to be transferred to their home town. Waterside might be low on crime, yet their residences were glad to have a man of the law living among them. He’d come a long way from that smart-mouth boy who thought she and her mother did not belong to the town to a man she admired and respected, but he was still not her type.
