Chapter 72
- Years after Kunle Adams convinced the government to start up another cement plant, but now a dry processing plant, with King in prominent position, he was still trying to prove that he was worthy of his wife. Not that Evelyn had given him any reason to doubt her love for him, but because she was from a wealthier family, it made him insecure. King was an absentee father and husband, pursuing money, determined to be as rich as possible. Hoping that once he had made money, he will then feel worthy of his wife.
- King’s father tried to get him to appreciate his wife and kids more, but he did not listen. All he wanted was to make enough money so he can move in the same crowd that Evelyn moved in before he married her. He and his friend cum partner, Steven Julius had established their own cement plant so he was giving it all he had. And three years after, he was beginning to hope that it will pull through. Finally, it seemed he might make, that he might become rich and worthy of Evelyn’s love and care. But then the tragedy struck.
- Christopher, one of his twins was diagnosed with Leukemia. King had not heard of the disease before his son was diagnosed with it. Within months, his son was dead. He could not fathom it. One of his boys was dead while he was busy making money. Guilt consumed him, and with his guilt came anger, anger at himself and everyone. He needed an outlet, someone to blame. Someone needed to answer for the death of his beloved son.
