Chapter 90
- There was a slight movement beyond Dave's shoulder, and her gaze instantly shifted to a towering figure radiating fury behind him. Dave toppled over with a lifeless thud, hitting the floor just as tears welled up in her eyes again, this time filled with relief.
- "D-Daniel?" Kathryn whimpered, tears streaming down her cheeks as she strived, and failed, to lift herself from the floor. Her legs felt as if they were made of jelly, and her injured arm was practically useless at her side. But she didn't care about any of that; all that mattered was that he was close.
- "Hold still," Daniel commanded tersely, aiming his gun and firing another round into Dave's motionless body before rushing to her side. The additional shot seemed a bit excessive, considering most of Dave's brain was scattered on the floor, but she didn't mind in the least.
