• All Daniel remembered feeling as he'd hung up that phone was relief at buying himself a few more days with her at most before this all exploded in his face. He knew it would. Kathryn was passionate, fierce, and loyal.
• And her discovering what his intentions had been from the beginning would set her off, rightfully so. Three weeks ago he wouldn't have cared how she'd react to the news of his initial plans for her.
• But now? He was terrified that she'd decide he wasn't worth knowing. That she'd discard him, or worse, despise him. He wouldn't blame her.
