• He'd expected her anger when he'd told her about why he'd invited Zack into their bed, acknowledging that not confiding with her beforehand about his intentions had been wrong, all the while silently condemning himself for what else he'd been hiding from her.
• Instead of scolding him, or lashing out passionately as she usually did, Kathryn had accepted his apology with grace, even going so far to reassure him that she understood his reasoning and wasn't upset.
