Chapter 3
- The loud music hit Lucy's eardrums and she felt like turning back at that moment, but she had to loosen up a bit, so she followed an excited Rachel further into the club. Different perfumes, sweats and heat merged together to produce a strange smell that Lucy didn't like. She almost puked but bottled it in.
- Rachel, who had danced all the way inside the club, quickly found a partner and she told Lucy, " Stay away from the drinks, and dance away your sorrows, baby! "
- Lucy rolled her eyes at the mummy in her friend's voice. She made her way to the counter where the drinks were being served and avoided bumping into dancing couples. A guy started to approach her, but she sent him away with a glare.
- " Whoa b*tch! " He yelled and scampered off.
- Lucy finally got to the counter and sat on a stool while she waited for the bartender. She noticed a well dressed guy sitting on the stool next to her. His back was turned to her so she couldn't make out his features. Beside him, another well dressed guy sat. They looked wealthy and reeked of money, Lucy thought.
- Forcing herself to stop staring, she talked to the bartender, " Wine, please. "
- Unknown to her, the other guy noticed her and he called his friend's attention whose back was turned to her.
- " Jason. Look. At. That, " Gregory Armstrong whispered to Jason who turned.
- Jason Blake stared at an unsuspecting Lucy for a while until Gregory nudged him, " Your type, huh? " He teased.
- Jason rolled his eyes, " Nah, she's petite. You know I like tall and thick ladies. " He took a sip from his drink and took another long look at Lucy. He couldn't keep his eyes off her. She was petite and beautiful. Her long, blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, giving her a clear, natural look. As if Lucy felt someone was watching her, she glanced sideways and their eyes met. For a minute, it seemed time stopped as they stared at each other without blinking.
- What the hell? Lucy thought breathlessly. The guy was breathtakingly handsome. Unable to handle the thick atmosphere between them, she stood up on her feet hurriedly and staggered back a little. She felt the need to use the restroom and walked away.
- At the same time, the guy who approached her earlier followed discreetly. Jason saw the guy leave and immediately knew it was because of Lucy.
- " I'll be back, " He said to Greg and followed the two.
- Lucy came out of the ladies' restroom but was pushed back by strong hands. Frightened, she looked up to check who it was and her eyes widened in horror.
- " You?? " She spat out angrily.
- The guy smirked, " Yes princess, it's me, Ray. You were being so itchy earlier. Let's have some fun, okay? " He smiled and made to kiss her but Lucy turned her face away.
- " Get away from me, you shitface, "She said weakly.
- Ray pushed her against the wall and held her neck tightly. Lucy gasped for breath, too weak to fight back. Not that she could anyway. The alcohol starting to take effect on her. Suddenly, he was yanked away from her and she was able to breathe. Lucy held her sore neck and coughed. She heard some sounds and looked up in alarm to see a very tall guy beating up Ray. His back was turned to her so she couldn't see who he was. She thought he looked somewhat familiar though.
- " Touch her again and I'll put you behind the bars, " He threatened, finally letting go of Ray who ran off. The guy turned and Lucy's eyes widened in recognition.
- " Oh! " It was the guy who sat next to her at the counter.
- " Are you okay? " He asked in a deep, baritone voice. It sent a tingling sensation down her stomach.
- She forced herself to answer, " Yeah... Yeah, I'm okay. " She replied and added, " Thank you, " She whispered.
- He nodded and searched her face. Lucy got a good look at his features. His eyes were Amber in color and she found them sexy. He had sleepy, seductive eyes. He had chiseled jaw, thin lips and jet black hair.
- " Wanna take a picture? Would last longer, I think, " He teased and smiled. Lucy saw the dimples she never knew he had and felt warm all over. Why was she feeling this way towards a stranger? She asked herself. Well, the guy was worth drooling over. He was too handsome for his own good, she thought, justifying her actions.
- Shaking her head to get rid of sinful thoughts, she eyed him, " No, thank you. "
- Jason laughed and his laughter sounded like music to Lucy's ears. They were outside the restroom.
- " Jason. I'm Jason, you are? " He asked warmly.
- Lucy adjusted her gown and was about to reply when two ladies walked by and whispered, " Holy cow! What's that hot shot doing with a girl like her?? " One of them whispered to the other.
- " Beats me, " The other lady replied.
- Jason moved closer to Lucy to apologize and also offer physical comfort, but Lucy held up her hand. When she looked up at him, her eyes were filled with sadness. Jason frowned, starting to get curious. The look disappeared from her face before he had the chance to ask her about it.
- " I should get going, " She said, avoiding eye contact with him. Jason held her by the arm as she tried to leave.
- " Wait! " He said quickly. The touch aroused her and made her yearn for something intimate with him. Her eyes widened as she realized what she was doing. Come on girl, you never even felt this way towards Alvin, so why are you feeling this way towards a stranger? She scolded herself. She realized he said something while she was lost in thought.
- " Huh? " She asked.
- " I was asking if you'd rather go home. You look too fragile to be in a place like this, " Jason repeated, searching her face.
- Suddenly, a crazy thought came to Lucy's mind and she decided to push her luck because why not? She was attracted to him as f*ck, but she wasn't sure if he felt the same way. There was only one way to find out, she thought and acted on impulse. After all, Alvin had made it known to her that no man would ever treat her the way he did so she wanted to find out for herself.
