- “ I’ll be there in ten, ” Jason said, hanging up the phone before Wills could respond. He quickly straightened his tie, ran a hand through his hair, and left his office in a whirlwind. His heart was racing as he made his way down the elevator and to his car, barely noticing the curious glances from his employees. This was it—the moment he had been obsessively waiting for. Finally, he was going to see Lucy again.
- The drive felt both agonizingly slow and too fast, his mind replaying what he’d say when he saw her. Would she recognize him immediately? Would she be angry, surprised, or happy? Would she even want to see him after how things had ended?
- When he pulled up to the location Wills had given him, his eyes immediately scanned the area. It was a quiet street with a small grocery store nestled between a laundromat and a pharmacy. His pulse quickened. She’s really here, he thought, his chest tightening with anticipation.
