Chapter 15

• " What happened? " Lucy asked, her voice shaky as she struggled to piece together the events.
• " You fainted, sweetie, " the nurse replied softly. " You were in shock. Luckily, the driver managed to stop in time, and some bystanders helped you to the side of the road. An ambulance was called, and they brought you here. "
• Lucy let out a shaky breath, the weight of what had almost happened sinking in. She had been so close—so close to something terrible, and all because she had let her emotions get the better of her. She felt a wave of guilt wash over her, not just for putting herself in danger, but for risking the life of her unborn child.
