Chapter 80

  • They traced their way back to where they had left the car, holding their ordered food in their hands. It was well packaged and wrapped in a fancy leather bag. Stephanie wanted to say goodbye to him and continue to her apartment on her own. She didn't want him knowing the exact place she lived. But Jacobs wasn't going to accept that. He insisted that he was going to drop her off at her apartment. After a while, when she saw that there was no point in arguing with this man, she allowed herself into the car again and they drove off to her apartment. They crossed to the other side of the road, and made their way round a corner until they came to a stop in front of a red light.
  • All along, she had been giving the supposed directions to her apartment to the driver. They never suspected that she had been leading them to a wrong destination all these while.
  • When the light showed green, they continued on their way. She took them to a building which she knew very well that the occupants were not home. She had passed that street on several occasions and had seen them traveling not too long ago. When they stopped at the gate, she got out of the car and took a few slow steps towards the apartment building, praying to God in her mind that Jacobs wouldn't insist on following her inside. Well, even if he did, she would have no other option but to say no and persist as much as she could. Luckily for her, he made no such comment or said anything that gave off any intention of wanting to come inside. Instead he said:
