Chapter 23
- It was no news that Stephanie was late, but there were more than a dozen pairs of eyes waiting to welcome her at the reception, and from all she could read from each pair, she knew she was either in a lot of trouble, or they had planned to freak her out on the order of their boss.
- She greeted awkwardly as she made her way towards the only elevator that took her straight to the boss' office. All she got in reply to the greetings were just more stares that by the time the iron doors of the elevator were sliding closed, her nerve had been stretched to its last capacity.
- The electronic cab wired for a while before coming to a stop, after an expected ding, however, Stephanie took a while to calm her nervousness before she stepped out of the elevator and into the expansive office of the CEO. As expected, Jaccob Jacobs was seated behind his antique desk made out of mahogany wood. He seemed to be busy ignoring her, as he penned things down in a plain sheet of paper. Swallowing immediately became hard, for some reason.
