Chapter 13

• Stephanie was so tired she could sink right there on the elevator and sleep. All of the love and home trainings her parents had given her had never prepared her for this kind of exhaustion that came from Job hunting. Her bones felt as if they had turned to liquid. Her eyes felt too heavy for her body if they were opened.
• And the sun? Her goodness! She dared not look herself in the mirror for too long or the person with darkened skin and eye circles might break the full sized mirror in her apartment and start screaming until people in the building come running in to see what was wrong.
• No. She could not do that. She had done enough breaking for the year. Even though she was so bloody rich, thanks to her parents, she had regretted breaking that two thousand dollars MacBook that had been gifted to her on her twenty-third birthday which was a year and six months before. Just a year and six months life span for a laptop that had been designed to last for over five years. All because she had been overwhelmed by the choking ripples of betrayal and hurt that had nearly drowned her over a month ago because she had made the mistake of falling in love with Stevie McDaniel.
