Chapter 34

• When Stephanie arrived at work that morning, her first order of business was to get Jaccob his coffee and his mail, but after she had set both down on his table while he made a call—judging from his tone and the way he spoke, she could tell it was business related. He always liked to keep business calls as brief as possible—she stood in place waiting for him to be done. He looked up and noticing that she was still standing there, he raised a brow and gave her a questioning look.
• She gestured between them and mouthed the words 'need to talk'.
• His expression was one of confusion and she wondered if he had understood her correctly.
