Chapter 240 Be My Mate Again

  • The day had stretched on in quiet monotony, each hour blending seamlessly into the next. Crystal found herself alone in the living room, a rare occurrence since Logan had begun spending so much time with Anna. She tried to welcome the solitude, seeing it as a chance to keep herself occupied, to avoid the feelings that had been gnawing at her since Logan’s return. The house was spotless, but she needed something—anything—to keep her mind busy.
  • She moved through the room, straightening pillows and smoothing out the wrinkles in the couch’s fabric. Her movements were mechanical, almost desperate in their precision, as if tidying up the space could somehow bring order to the turmoil within her. But no matter how much she tried to distract herself, Logan’s presence lingered in the back of her mind, ever-present, like a shadow she couldn’t shake.
  • As she reached the end of the couch, Crystal noticed a faint line of dust gathered underneath. It wasn’t much, just a small collection of dirt that had escaped her attention until now. She knelt down and reached for the broom, ready to sweep it away, when she realized that the couch was too close to the floor for her to get underneath properly. She needed to lift it.
