Chapter 187 Betrayed By Love

  • The dim light filtering through the small, barred window cast long shadows on the cold stone walls of the dungeon. Simon paced the length of his cell, his footsteps echoing in the confined space as his thoughts raced. The previous day had come and gone, yet there had been no sign of Isaac. Doubts gnawed at him, each unanswered question a sharp thorn in his mind. Why hadn’t Isaac shown up? Had he gone to see Lucy as instructed? And if so, what had transpired between them?

Simon stopped his pacing and leaned against the rough stone, closing his eyes as he tried to calm his racing heart. He needed to stay focused, to trust that Isaac would follow through with the plan. But the longer he waited, the more his doubts grew.
