Chapter 56 Fifty Five

• My hands were cold over the silk gloves I wore. I looked at the Bible James held. I bit my lower lip, watching him place it down before him. He said, "Let us begin by offering thanks to the Lord on this wonderful day."
• I bowed my head as he prayed, and everyone said "amen" afterwards. Then came the exchanging of vows. We faced each other, and Zevran held both my hands.
• “If therefore, it is your desire to be united in this holy bond, will you signify that fact by joining your right hands,” James said. “Do you, Zevran La Monte, take this woman whose hand you now hold, to be your true and wedded wife; and do you solemnly promise before God and these witnesses to love, cherish, honor, and protect her; to forsake all others for her sake; to cleave unto her, and her only, until death shall part you?”
