Chapter 14 Thirteen

• Zevran's car came to a stop in front of the hospital's parking lot. I didn't want him to bring me here, but my mother insisted on him accompanying me. Throughout the drive to the city, there was an uneasy silence between us, and we didn't exchange a single word. The only sound was the occasional hum of the car engine and the soft rustling of leaves as we passed by the countryside. The silence continued until we reached our destination.
• “Thank you," I told him. I reached for the passenger door handle to open it.
• "I'll take you there."
