Chapter 47 Forty Six

• While my mother watched a comedy show on television, I tried to distract myself from overthinking by baking cupcakes. I prayed that no news about Zevran and his rumored girlfriend flashed on the screen or that my mother wouldn't check her phone. I didn't want her to find out, especially if they had discovered it was Rica.
• As my phone alarm went off, I checked on the cupcakes in the oven. Despite the day passing, I was still frustrated. Did Zevran even know about the news? It probably didn't matter to him, but it was so unfair that he could have a relationship with the woman he loved while I couldn't. And I had to break Ranch's heart because of his biased contract.
• While putting chocolate icing on one of the cupcakes, I squeezed it too hard, wishing I could strangle Zevran. My vision blurred, and I took a deep breath, staring at the cupcake. I knew I was foolish to think it could be anyone other than Rica.
