Chapter 26 Twenty Five

• I opened the office door, breathless as if someone had been chasing me. The guard was taken aback as I rushed past him and threw my ID on the front desk. I quickly explained that I needed to speak with Zevran as his fiancée and left the woman stunned. I ran up the stairs, my vision blurry and my hand clenched into a fist.
• Why didn't anyone tell me about my mother's condition? Why didn't she confide in me?
• As my body weakened, I left my friend behind and almost collapsed on the escalator down to the first floor, but I managed to keep my balance. My breathing was labored and my chest felt tight, my mind racing with questions. Why did it happen? Why didn't she tell me?
