Chapter 9 Dark Whispers
- Me and Sebastian staggered into the forest with my steps muffled by the thick blanket of fallen leaves; my breath came in short, gasps. The moist air smelled like rot and earth mixed with the biting edge of horror. Although the episode with Marcus disturbed us both, we cannot give up. Not yet with the sinister powers around us.
- Sebastian wrapped his arm across my shoulders, his weight squarely pressed against me. His wounds had sapped a lot of his strength. The woodland did not offer a safe place for us to recover and arrange, yet we needed one. Every shadow seemed to be throbbing with evil, and every sound of leaves fluttering implied threat.
- "We need to keep moving," I pushed, voice quivering from exertion and horror. "We cannot stay open for long".
