Chapter 75 The Devil's Gambit
- With a presence that made my skin prickle, the air felt heavy and oppressive. I was having trouble breathing because of the pressure its weight was placing on my chest. The room was huge, with walls that looked to be pulsing with energy I couldn't quite identify and moving. A circular obsidian table, its surface polished to a mirror-like sheen, stood in the center.
- The creature, whose humanoid form was incorrect in every way, sat at the far side of the table. Its face was so perfect that it seemed unnervingly symmetrical. With a flash of predatory intentness, eyes like molten gold fixed themselves on me.
