- After Liora's laughter, there was almost as much silence as there was sound. She had vanished, disappearing as quickly as she had appeared, though her thick and threatening presence lingered. All of my senses were on edge as Sebastian and I stood alone in the silence of the hollow, breathing hard.
- I did not wait for him to inquire; I simply set off, dragging him along with me. My mind was racing from the shock of what had happened, and adrenaline shot through every nerve. A pulsating, gnawing sense of dread that had begun when I first entered Liora's mind weighed me down with each step forward. I was unable to shake it.
- "How were you feeling?" Sebastian questioned as we finally slowed down, concealed by the thick canopy of trees above. His eyes narrowed in concern as he spoke in a quiet but urgent voice.
