Chapter 39 New Dawn
- A faint glimmer appeared in the otherwise dark sky as dawn began to creep across the horizon. I hadn't had any sleep. Sebastian hadn't either. Strange quiet that had descended after the commotion enveloped us so we sat there in quietly. My mind was racing with things I wanted to ask but was afraid to ask, and questions I didn't want to hear.
- "You must tell me everything," Sebastian was the first to break the silence, speaking in a low, controlled tone with a hint of sharpness. A sharpness that sliced like a razor through the tension in the air.
- I forced myself to swallow and looked at the ground, reluctant to look him in the eye. How was I meant to justify this? Since I didn't understand it myself, how could I tell him the truth?
