Chapter 18 The Heart Of Darkness

• The new route was a sinister tunnel of light that twisted as we descended farther, like a living thing. A weird hum vibrated beneath our feet as the air grew warmer. My hold on Sebastian's hand grew more firm when I sensed the energy coursing through the tunnel, almost like a beating heart.
• As we moved on, the light became more powerful, casting a beautiful glow over our surroundings. Though the light seemed to keep the shadows at bay, they nevertheless danced at the margins. The walls of the tunnel were covered in elaborate designs, old-fashioned symbols that appeared to move and alter as one passed by. I could just hear their voices mixing into a melancholic tune as they hummed secrets.
• We entered a massive, open cavern that was illuminated by an otherworldly light emanating from a massive crystal in the center of the space. The crystal pulsed a powerful, rhythmic brilliance that decorated the basement walls in kaleidoscopic colors. It appeared to gather energy from every angle in the room, creating eye-catching displays when its light reflected off the walls.
