Chapter 68
- Alexandra
- I’m careful to close Layla’s door behind me without making a sound but when the door suddenly creaks, I gasp. Relief washes over me when I peek through the tiny gap between the door and the frame, only to see that she’s still fast asleep. It’s taken hours to finally calm Layla down. It’s as if she’s become manic and now that she’s under twenty four hour guard watch, something tells me it’ll get worse before it gets better.
- My mind reels at how a single mistake can alter someone’s entire life. She’s remorseful, there’s no doubt in my mind. I think back to Axton for a split second. Given the pain he’s forced on so many, I wonder if he’ll ever feel regret of any kind. Some people get off scot free while others are forced to face their demons.
