• I carefully close Layla’s bedroom door behind me, not bothering to change out of my suit as I head outside and into the forest to find Lexi. It’s unlike her to want to run and I’ve been careful not to push her given everything she’s been through. Deep down, a part of me wants to explode with eagerness though. Every now and then, I see a bright light of hope flicker when I see her breaking down her own walls. It’s not easy even for an Alpha, but for an omega - moments like this are practically unheard of.
• The terrified look that spilled across her face when I told her she’d become pack is etched into my mind. Titus has been filled with anguish since, expecting her to be elated to join Crescent Moon. Likewise, my own feelings are conflicted too, I thought this was what she wanted, I thought she’d celebrate. But she didn’t, instead her hesitation hit me like a pile of bricks.
