• Liam’s eyes go wide with fury when he feels my hand push against his chest. Just looking up at him has my mind spinning and instantly losing my train of thought. I’m angry with myself for pulling away when all I want is to never leave his side. The truth is, deep down I’m utterly terrified at how easily his presence makes me lose control of myself and the internal hurricane of emotions that is brewing inside. One day, he’ll lose interest in me and leave me behind to pick up the pieces of my own shattered heart.
• “Liam,” I say, feeling my small voice break. I can see Marcus’ back turned to us from the door of the packhouse and I’m quick to gather why he’s lingering around. Liam’s knuckles draw down the side of my face in concern, making the little hairs on the back of my neck rise. It burns a hole inside of me to see how much he cares.
