Chapter 40 - Alpha Jack

• The door to my office flies open and Daisy bounces into the room, exclaiming, "Good choice Jack, you won't regret it, she's awesome and she will be perfect for this pack," then pauses, and looks behind her and I glance towards the door, to see Jason slipping out, she moves again, that girl is like a whirlwind and she stops next to me leaning down and planting a kiss on my cheek and as she does a growl escapes me and I jump to my feet. The smell apple blossom and vanilla engulfs me and much to Daisy's surprise I jump over my desk and am out the door in an instant. There, in Jason's arms, is the most beautiful being I have every seen, her chocolate brown hair cascades down around her face and her bright green eyes seem to pierce through me. MATE! she's finally here, after years and years of searching for her I have finally found her. Then it hits me, my mate is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, she killed someone, no not just someone, the Luna, the most precious person in a pack. Shaking away the fog of lust I take a step back and focus on the present. She is staring at me with her doe eyes, and I can see the hurt and pain she has endured. Fear is rolling off her in waves as she watches me from within my Gammas arms. She is closer to him than before, pressing those lush curves against his hard body, and he is holding her as though she is made of glass, like he treasures her. Another growl rips from me and Jason let's her go and steps back slightly. This helps, I'm able to think rationally once he takes his hands off her.
• Jason wanted me to hear her story, he thinks she is innocent, and Daisy clearly does as well, hope springs up inside me, she is innocent, I know it down to my bones, and she is mine, I will help her prove she didn't hurt anyone and we will be together, side by side, always.
