Chapter 22 - The Longest Walk Of My Life

  • I finally hear Thomas stirring from the bed and turn to face him, his hair is standing on end and he looks severely rumpled, which makes me giggle, I'm finding that being so close to despair is allowing me to enjoy the smaller things in life, like Thomas's bed head, and the smell of pancakes wafting through the packhouse. I make a mental note to myself to learn how to make pancakes when we get to our new pack. They smell incredible and are making me hungry. Thomas gets up from the bed and stumbles sleepily to the bathroom. When he comes out a few minutes later, he is back to his usual self. He then departs to get breakfast, just as we had planned, while I pull out the letter we are going to be leaving behind. I want to reread it now to ensure it contains all the Alpha and Luna need to know, as I doubt I will be in any state to add to it in the coming days or weeks.
  • I am just sealing it in an envelope when Thomas reenters the room with a tray piled high with food, part of the plan being that I eat plenty to gather my strength.
  • "How are you feeling?" He asks, "ready for this?"
