• Asher couldn't believe what the woman had just said; she admitted out loud that he had touched her, and to make matters worse, she called him a pervert. He had done nothing wrong; his only sin was not being able to control his wolf, but he couldn't admit it out loud. An Alpha who couldn't control himself would be a disgrace to his entire pack.
• Where would that leave him? Whether Emma was a witch or not didn't matter; it was clear that the arrival of that woman would only bring trouble, and he wasn't willing to tolerate it.
• Alaric looked at Emma and then at him with a gesture of astonishment. Asher pursed his lips, intending to make a sign to silence him, but when his beta's expression changed from astonishment to horror as he looked at his back, he immediately froze.
