Chapter 21
- The healer's insistence that she stay in bed to rest was no match for the sound of the screams. Emma stood and looked out the window, hidden, so she wouldn't be seen, and after witnessing the entire confrontation, she felt like an intruder, an imposter, and a threat to these people. Everything that was happening was just ridiculous; she couldn't understand the fact that she had developed feelings for Asher in such a short time. Yes, there was an undeniable attraction between them, but she knew nothing about love. She was pretty sure that the feelings that ran through her when she was around him were nothing more than lust.
- Still, she had to intervene. She couldn't let these people attack Asher and hurt him because of her. Just thinking about it made her body shake.
- "We were all fine until you two arrived," she heard the healer say, stepping away from the window to look at the woman. "Intruders only bring trouble. We have gotten used to living with the curse, and I prefer it that way to having a wretched witch as our moon."
