Chapter 22
- Emma felt lonely and empty. It had been a week since the incident, and to make things worse, her brother had decided to leave for fear of hurting her. Even during the month she had been separated from Ethan in Pennsylvania, she had never felt this way. She understood her brother's decision, respected it, and was sure he could take care of himself, but what tormented her was Asher and the voice of Endora in her head.
- Her great-great grandmother had been determined to make her life miserable ever since she had decided to stay away from Asher. Didn't she have enough to deal with her feelings? She also had to have that irritating voice nagging at her all the time.
- It wouldn't let her sleep, it wouldn't let her eat in peace, and that day even the cabin seemed to be at war with her. She was cold and when she tried to light the fire in the fireplace, all her attempts were useless.
