Chapter 20

Asher carried Emma through the forest; at first, she couldn't stop screaming and hurting herself as she tried to escape. But when he explained that he only wanted the pack healer to check her injuries, she calmed down.
It was a lie; Asher had no intention of letting her go after that. She would stay where she belonged, at his side. If it was necessary to hide this information to keep her from trying to escape, he would do whatever it took. She was his, she belonged to him.
"I'm only going with you because I'm a mess and I don't want my brother to worry about me," Emma whispered weakly as they approached Asher's house, noticing the curious and inquisitive looks of the other wolves. "But as soon as your healer fixes me up, I'm out of here. I don't want any trouble with your partner."
