Chapter 38

  • Ethan was losing his mind, overwhelmed by a deep anguish. The first thing he did after seeing the cabin in ruins was to go looking for that damn Alpha. At that moment, nothing and no one could remove the suicidal thought from his mind. If his sister was injured or dead, he did not care if he threw himself head-first into the same fate if it meant ending Asher. So many years of listening to his mother's stories, so many warnings, and they had done exactly what they shouldn't have.
  • Ethan blamed himself for what had happened; he should have taken care of her, but he also realized that it was not all his fault. First on his list was Asher, and second had to be Tala. The Omega's betrayal hurt more than he was willing to admit; if only she had respected his decision, he would be dead and his sister would be safe.
  • Because of that woman, he now knew nothing about Emma, and her intervention had been useless because he had still been willing to die if it meant taking Asher down. As he entered the woods that separated the cabin from the town, Ethan could see the tracks of other men and faint traces of his sister's scent. Without thinking, he darted through the trees and began to follow them.
