• Asher's footsteps echoed beside Alaric as they made their way to where the pack was gathered. He immediately noticed that the atmosphere was tense and divided between those who agreed with him about not binding up with Astrid and preferring Emma, and those who disagreed with his decision.
• The elders of the pack stood at the front, indicating that they would judge his actions. He had anticipated this, but he also believed that if he focused his defense on explaining that Emma was the witch who would break the curse, the unease would subside.
• With a quick scan, he noticed Astrid standing there with her family and the wolves that had always been causing him trouble. They all stood behind the elders.
