Chapter 56
- Emma paced through the kitchen nervously, her unsteady steps echoing off the floorboards. Fearful that at any moment she might trip over her own feet and fall.
- Asher placed himself in front of her so that she wouldn't have a chance to turn around and calm down. At least he didn't look any better, and he seemed nervous as well. He couldn't stay in the same spot for too long; he started walking around the kitchen, making annoying noises by snapping his fingers.
- Neither of them wanted to make the first move to start a conversation, so she tried to focus on what she was doing. It would be the first time in several days that she would eat something she liked, but her hunger was gone. She didn't think she would be able to take a bite after seeing Ethan.
