Chapter 33 Consult

• When Santiago Jr started having drug problems, Dr Alfonso hadn't graduated yet. Back then Alfonso worked with his father and brother at the shipping company while studying hard. He had won a scholarship to study medicine and, because of his friend, decided to specialize in psychology. Later he learned what Santiago went through to overcome addiction and was glad when he succeeded.
• After graduating and starting his practice, Alfonso kept insisting on treating Santiago, realizing his childhood friend was no longer the same and wanting to understand why. The few times they met by chance at the shipping company, Santiago refused, saying everything was fine and they simply grew apart.
• But since seeing Eva leave a hotel with Oswaldo, Luis's father, a few months ago, Santiago began paying closer attention to his wife's activities. That's why he sought out men he trusted to accompany him, knowing his friend Adrian from the shipping company was perfect for the roles of assistant, driver and bodyguard. Although the job was a step down from Adrian's current role, when Santiago explained why he needed him close by, Adrian agreed.
