• Oswaldo stared at Eva as he slowly sipped his drink, smiling as he assured her: "I have never raised a hand to my wife. She is very clumsy and always having accidents." He spoke with apparent calmness.
• Eva looked at him distrustfully, knowing Oswaldo, Luis' father, had a volatile temper and would deny any accusation against him.
• "What are you doing here? And where's Liana? I haven't seen her in ages. I've heard rumours she's very ill. What did you do to her this time?" Eva asked, concerned and suspicious.
