Chapter 14 Explanation
- Hearing him offer comfort in such a manner only served to heighten my urge to weep. All the pain I had repressed throughout the years cascaded forth while in my grandfather's embrace. He held me firmly against his chest, running his fingers through my hair, waiting patiently for my sobs to subside. Eventually, I settled, and we sat opposite each other, our hands entwined. He posed no questions, merely waiting for me to find the words.
- “Grandpa, I didn't want you to act, which is why I didn't confide in you, nor did I accompany you. Above all, I didn't want to alarm Mima.”
- “You should've come straight to us! Your grandmother will be beside herself when she learns of this.”
