Chapter 31 Failed Plans

• Voices outside the house, as if from a fight, jolted Luis from his thoughts. Could it be Isabella arguing with Vivian? He got up to investigate when the office door burst open and two burly men rushed him, pinning him down and putting a hood over his head. From Vivian's screams he knew they had caught her too.
• They were violently thrown into a van and driven at high speed to an unknown location. Vivian screamed until someone silenced her with a blow. Finally they seemed to be parking and Luis could hear voices helping them. Still hooded, they were forcibly walked, pushed and shoved until seated and tied to chairs. The light was switched off, the door closed and they were left there.
• This was undoubtedly the work of his father-in-law or Isabella's grandfather. Isabella must have complained to them! Why hadn't he listened when they said no? They were trapped and Luis knew he wouldn't get out of this alive without a miracle. He knew what the Sardinos were capable of - he knew it. And he remembered his father-in-law's threats at the dinner, warning not to touch Isabella.
